Jeannette Mary Cook (Couvier) was born on January 9, 1933 in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan to Elmer Couvier and Mary Moreau. She was baptized on March 10, 1935 at the Holy Name of Mary Church. She had 13 siblings.
She passed away on March 12, 2017 in her home. She was surrounded by her loving family as she took her last breath. She was 84 years old.
Jeannette grew-up in Michigan, and when she turned 18, she moved to Tennessee to fulfill her dream of working at the Grand Ole Opry. She loved being a waitress and a bartender, and while bartending at Mike’s in Fontana, California she met the love her life, Bob "Tooter" Cook in 1962. They were wed in 1964 and were blessed with four children. Jeannette also had two older children who were raised by their father. Later, she would fulfill another dream and open her own bar named Jan’s Playpen. In 2000, the family moved to Kremmling, Colorado. Jeannette’s family was dear to her heart and she wanted to be close to them.
She will be remembered for her hospitality, being an amazing homemaker, raising her children and grandchildren, her devotion to her Catholic faith, and the wisdom she left behind. She enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino with her daughters.
She leaves behind her children: Laurie Geist (Brad) of Granby, Colorado; Debora Ruble Cook (Bill Karns) of Riverside, California; Renee Cook (Raymond Archuleta) of Kremmling, Colorado; Bobbie Hernandez (Ignacio) of Kremmling, Colorado, Janice, Kenny, and grandchildren: Shannon Rakich (Joel) of Fontana, California; Bradley Bartkow-Geist (Ellie) of Granby, Colorado; Melissa Geist of Kremmling, Colorado; Robert Geist of Granby, Colorado; Alex Geist of Granby, Colorado; David Ruble of Maryland; Michael Ruble of Maryland; Rachelle Ruble of Riverside, California; Brian Skinner of Riverside, California; Lisa Strahl (Phillip Houser) of Casper, Wyoming; Michelle Strahl of Kremmling, Colorado; Nicole Strahl (Brandon Thompson) of Greeley, Colorado; Anthony Cook "Cookie" of Kremmling, Colorado, and great grandchildren: Alexander, Chase and Brooke Rakich of Fontana, California; Damian, Eli, Haylee and Kaylee Bartkow-Geist of Granby, Colorado. Emma Nicole Geist of Granby, Colorado; Dominick, Aliyah Houser of Casper, Wyoming; Tyler Strahl, Tanner, Nevaeh Brumley of Kremmling, Colorado; Jacob Garcia, Adyiaon Strahl of Kremmling, Colorado; Travis, Brielle Thompsom of Greeley, Colorado; and Alexander Ruble of Maryland, and one brother Gary Couvier (Enda) of Arizona.
She was proceeded in death by her loving husband in November of 2016, her parents, 12 of her siblings, and her godparents, Philip and Adele Couvier.
A vigil for Jeannette will be held on Friday, April 7 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kremmling, and the funeral will be held the following day on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. by Father Joseph McLagan. The address for St. Peter’s Catholic Church is 106 South 5th Street.
